FRYEBURG, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Fryeburg Police Department is investigating a rash of car break-ins and burglaries in a residential neighborhood early Sunday morning.

Police say ten cars were burglarized between midnight and 6 a.m. Sunday in the areas of Morningside Drive, Meadow Lane, and Lovewell Pond Road.

The suspects entered unlocked vehicles and removed cash, digital cameras, cigarettes, and alcohol, among other belongings.

"This is usually a quiet, residential neighborhood," said Acting Police Chief Joshua Potvin. "I have dedicated patrol officers to this area due to the sudden increase of criminal activity."

Chief Potvin is urging residents to lock vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
