CALAIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Calais Regional Hospital is half a million dollars in the red. To balance it's books by years end, that will mean some painful cuts. This includes layoffs and reduced hours for roughly 30% of the hospital's staff.

A spokesperson for the hospital tells NEWS CENTER that over the past few months they have seen a sharp drop in patients coming in for care. And staffing is where they need to trim spending.
